Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the SATO Encyclopedia and your archive identity

Account & Identity

Can I change my generated archive name?

No. Your archive name is permanently assigned during registration and cannot be changed. This policy exists to maintain the integrity and immersion of the archive's contributor records. If you have a serious concern about your assigned name, you may contact the encyclopedia maintainers through the Contact page.

Can I change my designation, affiliation, or rank?

Yes, but not directly through your account settings. Designation, affiliation, and rank changes must be requested through the Contact page. Requests are reviewed manually and approved at the discretion of the archive maintainers. Not all requests are guaranteed to be approved.

Can I change my specialty?

Yes. Specialty changes are the most flexible identity modifications and can be requested through the Contact page. Provide your current archive name and your requested new specialty in the message.

What if I want a completely different identity category?

Full identity category changes — such as switching from Xenobiology to Political & Treaty Affairs — are considered major modifications and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Submit a request through the Contact page with a detailed reason for the change.

How do I delete my account?

Account deletion requests must be submitted through the Contact page. Once deleted, your archive identity, all submitted notes, and all contributions will be permanently removed from the database. This action cannot be undone.

Contributing

How can I contribute articles to the encyclopedia?

Currently, article creation and publication is handled exclusively by authorized encyclopedia editors. If you are interested in becoming a contributor, submit a request through the Contact page detailing your areas of expertise and what you would like to contribute.

How are articles verified and approved?

All articles are written, reviewed, and approved by authorized editors before publication. Articles must meet the encyclopedia's standards for accuracy, tone, and lore consistency before they appear in the database.

Can I suggest corrections to existing articles?

Yes. If you notice an error, inconsistency, or outdated information in an article, you can submit a correction suggestion through the Contact page or by leaving an Archive Note on the article itself. All suggestions are reviewed by the editorial team.

Can I submit Archive Notes without an account?

No. Submitting Archive Notes requires a registered account with a verified archive identity. This policy ensures that all contributions are attributed to a legitimate in-universe identity and maintains the scholarly tone of the archive.

The Encyclopedia

How often is the encyclopedia updated?

The encyclopedia is updated on an ongoing basis as new articles are written, existing articles are expanded, and new discoveries are made within the universe. There is no fixed update schedule — content is added as it becomes available.

How are articles organized?

Articles are organized into six categories: Civilizations, Species, Technology, Planets, Law, and Locations. Each article belongs to one category and can be accessed directly through the category pages or via the search function.

Can I share or cite articles from this encyclopedia?

Yes. Articles from the SATO Encyclopedia may be shared and cited freely for personal, educational, and fan community purposes. Commercial use or reproduction without permission is not permitted.

What languages is the encyclopedia available in?

Currently the encyclopedia is only available in Galactic Standard (English). Translations into other languages may be considered in the future as the encyclopedia grows.

Technical

I found a bug or error on the site. How do I report it?

Please report any technical issues through the Contact page. Include a description of the problem, the page where it occurred, and if possible a screenshot. All bug reports are reviewed and addressed as quickly as possible.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

Password reset functionality is coming soon. In the meantime, if you have lost access to your account, please contact the encyclopedia maintainers through the Contact page with your registered email address.
